Alexander Girard was one of the most influential designers of the post-war period and devoted himself mainly to designing textiles and accessories depicting elements of folk art from various cultures. His works were characterised by a strong presence of bright colours and geometric shapes, which were able to best represent the tradition and culture of the peoples he chose as his inspiration. Thanks to his eclecticism and attention to detail, Girard created unique and unmistakable design works that have influenced many other designers over the years.
